With eBooks in greater demand than ever, we want to make sure accessing our eBooks is as easy for you as possible. Because Heinemann sells eBooks directly from our website, how our eBooks are downloaded and accessed is different from that of other popular eBook retailers. We've taken your questions and created this step-by-step guide to purchasing, downloading, and reading our eBooks. The steps necessary are slightly different depending on what kind of device you are using, so please review the information on this page carefully before purchasing. At the bottom of this page you'll find answers to some of our most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
Before You Purchase a Heinemann eBook
Heinemann eBooks are purchased through Heinemann.com and accessed using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).
Before purchasing or accessing a Heinemann eBook, you will need:
- A Heinemann.com account
- A free ByteBooks account
- Adobe Digital Editions installed on your device
IMPORTANT: If you previously accessed Heinemann eBooks using an Adobe ID, please create your ByteBooks account using the same email address whenever possible. This helps ensure your eBook purchases remain associated with the correct account. (Note that ByteBooks includes an option to migrate an existing Adobe ID account on their account creation page.)
Step 1: Create or Sign In to Your Heinemann.com Account
If you do not already have a Heinemann.com account, please create one before purchasing your eBook.
If you already have an account, we recommend signing in prior to completing your purchase.
Step 2: Create a Free ByteBooks Account
Before accessing your Heinemann eBook, you must create a free ByteBooks account.
Create a ByteBooks Account Important for existing Heinemann eBook customers:
Adobe is transitioning its eBook platform to a new service called ByteBooks. As part of this change, Adobe ID sign‑in for Adobe Digital Editions is being replaced by ByteBooks accounts. If you previously used an Adobe ID to access Heinemann eBooks, create your ByteBooks account using the same email address associated with your Adobe ID whenever possible. This helps ensure previously purchased titles are properly connected to your account.
Step 3: Install Adobe Digital Editions
Adobe Digital Editions is still required to download and read most Heinemann eBooks.
Download and install Adobe Digital Editions before attempting to open your eBook.
