These enjoyable community experiences deepen readers’ appreciation for a common text, extend their thinking as they process and interpret the perspectives and opinions of their peers, expand their ability to express their ideas orally, and provide an authentic context for applying the norms for listening and speaking and for using academic language. Throughout this four-part series, participants will explore how to organize and implement book clubs and how to facilitate authentic discussion about a common text.
