Multi-Day Institute:
LLI Primary Grades K-2 Institute / A Virtual Institute
Presented by Fountas & Pinnell Consultants
Overview
Teaching Readers Who Struggle and Teaching Within LLI Lessons in the Primary Grades, K-2 (Levels A-N / Orange, Green, and Blue) Developed by Irene C. Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell Special Note: A separate virtual institute for grades 3-8 is being presented in October. Please see LLI Systems Grades 3-8 (Red, Gold, and Purple) for details on this additional event. See all 2022 scheduled LLI Multi-Day Institutes here. The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System (LLI) for grades K-2 is a small-group, supplementary research-based intervention system designed for children who find reading and writing difficult. LLI can bring children to grade-level proficiency in an average of 14-18 weeks for LLI grades K-2 when implemented with fidelity. Seven systems are available for LLI; each supports instruction at different levels on the F&P Text Gradient™. This virtual institute delves deeply in to the first three: LLI Orange, kindergarten, levels A-C plus booster; LLI Green, grade 1, levels A-J plus booster; and LLI Blue, grade 2, levels C-N.
Participants will be provided with an understanding of the LLI Orange, Green, and Blue Systems for K-2 and how they can best be implemented with students who struggle with literacy learning in the classroom. You'll review excerpts of sample lessons and instructional routines in the primary grade lessons, and also learn how to monitor students using technology, and how systematic observation of reading and writing behaviors can inform teaching decisions. This virtual LLI institute remains identical in scope and content to our classic in-person institutes, but we have added a third virtual day to each institute. This additional day is designed to be responsive to your successes, challenges, and unanswered questions following implementation of what you had previously learned. This multi-day virtual institute will focus on understanding the reading and writing challenges of children who struggle with literacy learning and how to provide effective teaching within the LLI primary lessons. During this grade K-2 virtual institute, you will: Daily Schedule*, 11:00am – 6:00pm, Eastern Time 11:00am – 12:15pm: Session While our institutes are scheduled for a specific time zone, anyone from any time zone is welcome to enroll.
