Presented by Fountas & Pinnell Consultants
Overview
Intervening for Literacy Success with Intermediate and Middle Students, Grades 3-8 (Levels L-W / Red, Gold, and Purple) Developed by Irene C. Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell Special Note: A separate virtual institute for grades K-2 is being presented in October. Please see LLI Systems Grades K-2 (Orange, Green, and Blue) for details on this additional event. See all 2022 scheduled LLI Multi-Day Institutes here. The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System (LLI) for grades 3-8 is a small-group, supplementary research-based intervention system designed for students who find reading and writing difficult. LLI can bring students to grade-level proficiency in as little as 18-24 weeks for LLI grades 3-8 when implemented with fidelity. In this interactive virtual multi-day institute, participants will be provided with an understanding of the LLI Red, Gold, and Purple Systems for grades 3-8 and how they specifically meet the needs of struggling readers in those grades, and how to provide effective teaching within the LLI lessons. Participants will learn how to code and analyze reading behaviors, scheduling, student grouping, teacher language and supporting students' sustained attention and comprehension of texts. This virtual LLI institute remains identical in scope and content to our classic in-person institutes, but we have added a third virtual day to each institute. This additional day is designed to be responsive to your successes, challenges, and unanswered questions following implementation of what you had previously learned. The lesson design for LLI Red, Gold, and Purple has been extended and intensified beyond the earlier LLI levels and assumes the following: Intervening for Literacy Success with Intermediate and Middle Students, Grades 3-8 During this grade 3-8 virtual institute, you will: Daily Schedule*, 11:00am – 6:00pm, Eastern Time 11:00am – 12:15pm: Session While our institutes are scheduled for a specific time zone, anyone from any time zone is welcome to enroll.
