Overview

Teachers all over the United States have read How's It Going?: A Practical Guide to Conferring With Student Writers and learned how to confer with students about their writing. Drawing from this book, and Carl's new firsthand series, Strategic Writing Conferences: Smart Conversations That Move Young Writers Forward, this workshop will help participants develop essential understandings about conferring and translate these understandings into effective classroom practice.

Through explanations, stories, classroom video clips, samples of student work, and participant interaction, Carl will show how to have writing conferences with students that help them grow as writers.
