Date and Time

A 90-minute virtual mini-workshop from 10:00am to 11:30am Eastern Time (ET).

  • Saturday, February 27, 2021

Please note that this virtual mini-workshop is scheduled for Eastern Time (ET). If you are in a different time zone, please plan your schedule accordingly.

Technology has become a critically important tool for learning and teaching. However, a wide body of research shows us that whether teachers use it effectively really comes down to their beliefs and opinions—their technology mindset. It is rare for teachers and leaders to have time and support to unpack, acknowledge, and address the technology mindsets in schools. In this session, we guide and model the process of creating space and structure for these discussions so that you can make the most of the resources in your school and create optimal learning conditions for your students.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn about the factors that underpin teacher and leader mindsets about technology and how mindset impacts on teaching and leadership practice with technology
  • Recognize that technology mindsets come from a range of experiences and deeply held beliefs, and that they have value
  • Identify, explore, and discuss your own technology mindset through the lens of personal and professional experiences, beliefs, and values
  • Consider and plan for respectful and responsive ways of developing and supporting positive technology mindsets at the individual and organizational levels

About the Presenters

Sarah Gilmore and Katierose Deos are passionate concept- and inquiry-based educators, education consultants, and authors who work to support teachers and schools to embed and use technology holistically and sustainably to achieve its true purpose in education: enhancing and supporting student learning. Based in Connecticut and Germany, respectively, Sarah and Katierose first began working together to lead and develop their school's approach to technology integration as colleagues in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school. They went on to found their professional development company—Intechgrate—and write their first Heinemann book, Integrating Technology: A School-Wide Framework to Enhance Learning. They now work with teachers and leaders from early years through higher education to realize a sustainable and purpose-based approach to integrating technology in the classroom and beyond.
