Independent Reading and Conferring (Grades K-3): A Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ Webinar Series
Independent reading offers students the chance to read, write about, talk about, and enjoy self-selected texts. It is nested within an instructional framework of minilessons, conferring, and sharing. Throughout this interactive series, Fountas and Pinnell-trained consultant Chrisie Moritz will help participants explore how to support student choice during independent reading as well as explore how to have authentic and meaningful conversations with students that will move them forward in their reading competencies. During this series, participants will: Chrisie Moritz is a Fountas and Pinnell-endorsed consultant. She is a National Board certified literacy coach in Fairfax County, Virginia where she teaches, facilitates professional development sessions, and coaches other educators. She presents at conferences and consults with school districts across the country on various topics related to literacy instruction. Chrisie is an author, has taught at Title I schools in North Carolina and Virginia, and served as a Reading Recovery® teacher, Literacy Collaborative District Trainer, and adjunct professor at East Carolina University. Classroom teachers, administrators, curriculum coordinators, literacy specialists, and staff developers. The cost of this three-part webinar series is $119.00 per person. Tuition includes access to the recorded webinar series for 30 days, which begins on the date you receive the link. Please note, access cannot be extended past 30 days. Webinar participants are strongly encouraged to have The Fountas & Pinnell Literacy Continuum, Expanded Edition and Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ Independent Reading Collection Guide or grade level System Guide to fully participate in this webinar series. Registrants will receive multiple emails from Heinemann, including enrollment confirmation, which also serves as your tuition receipt and contains some basic instructions.
