Please note that these webinars are recorded and made available to all participants within two business days of each live session.

Join Jennifer Serravallo's colleague Clarisa Leal, who will be looking in depth at Jen's book El libro de estrategias de lectura, in this special live webinar series presented in Spanish!

El libro de estrategias de lectura takes Jennifer Serravallo's Reading Strategies Book and turns it into a complete resource for reading instruction in Spanish. With 300+ strategies, including some specially created just for Spanish-language development, it's an ideal resource for dual-language or bilingual classroom teachers, as well as for use with emergent bilingual students in mainstream classroom.

In this webinar series, planned by Jennifer Serravallo and translated and adapted for Spanish teachers by Clarisa, participants will learn to match methods to purpose throughout this school year. Clarisa will guide you through assessing individual students' strengths and needs, leading goal setting conversations, and following up on goals with conferring and small groups in Spanish language instruction. During each hour-long session, Clarisa will share practical and proven classroom strategies, provide video examples, and lead engaging live discussion.

Also consider joining Clarisa on these same days in the companion Seminario web de escritura series from 7:15pm–8:15pm. Enroll in the Seminario web de escritura here.

The following is a description of the learning objectives to be met within each session of this series:

  • Determining "just right" goals in reading through use of formative assessment in Spanish language instruction
  • Understanding how strategies support goals over time
  • Creating effective strategies by reflecting on your reading processes

  • Supporting readers through coaching, prompting and feedback during Spanish language instruction
  • Creating and using visual supports as a tool for independence
  • Unpacking strategies and prompts in conferences

  • Using strategies and prompts in small group strategy lessons during Spanish language instruction
  • Managing a class with different goals (and different strategies)
  • Repeated practice with strategy case studies
