Clarisa Leal

Clarisa Leal received a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. She later worked in Nicaragua as a first grade teacher, grade level coordinator, and literacy coach. Under Clarisa's guidance the school made sustainable improvements in literacy. She then moved to New York City and worked as a Spanish teacher at an innovative and diverse private school. With the benefit of being fluent in two languages, she was part of the school's Spanish Department team and taught Spanish as a second language in first grade and sixth grade. She is currently a literacy specialist in Florida at a school with Spanish native speakers, and students who are working to develop their Spanish language and literacy skills. She's used her passion for literacy instruction in English and Spanish to take on leadership roles in her school.
