Our district is beginning with the LLI systems in First and Second Grade. The starting point in Green system First Grade is clear. When starting a second grade student, should the first 10 lessons be used (similar to First Grade) or should the student be started at their reading/assessment level in the Blue system?

I would start my student in the 2nd grade box unless their reading level is below the first book in that box. I would also consider what my groups looked like. Do I have 1st graders at the level of the second grader, then perhaps I would put the 2nd grader there.

They should be starting at their assessment level in the blue system.
